The Fall of the Illistarta Read online

the Colossi stood defending the entrance to the largest of the forges. I walked past them, still paranoid in case they were still able to move on their own accord. Upon closer inspection, most of these statues were starting to fall apart under their own weight.

Inside the great forge, I saw the glimmers of the golden colossus as his body knelt by the anvil with hands resting on an embedded sword. In front of it was the anvil, bloated with black metal and then I saw it was cracked by a Pygat Ball hammer and the Pygam’ s body lay lifeless facing the ceiling.

Scribbles in chalk decorated the wall of the foundry from each of the languages of the peoples which had taken part all gave some sort of warning. Joining those that had come before, I wrote on the same wall ‘Don’t allow this anvil to be repaired!’

So I left and made my journey back to the surviving members of our people and wrote this account to remind you what it was we are now avoiding. I will never reveal the location of Soul Forge as it has now been named but I will reveal that many records of this event have been destroyed as few would ever believe that spirits could be bound to metal. If anyone finds this account and that dreaded anvil, they could either save this world or doom it for a second time and I doubt the world will be as prepared for, if that event ever occurs.
